Magnetic-Stripe Reader

When a credit card company issues a debit or credit card they attach a magnetic stripe to the back of the card which has personal and account information required to process an electronic transaction.  A magnetic-stripe reader is the device that reads the information from the magnetic stripe and transmits that information to a transaction processor or computer terminal. It may also be referred to as card reader.
