Card Reader

A card reader is a device capable of reading and translating the information stored on the magnetic encoded strip on plastic credit cards. A card reader is sometimes referred to as a credit card terminal. See Magnetic Stripe Reader. The card reader eliminates the need for the merchant to manually enter the credit card account number and other cardholder information at the time of a transaction involving a credit card.
