Acquirer

An acquirer, or often referred to as an acquiring bank, is a party to credit card transactions that receives all credit card transaction data from a merchant or card acceptor for processing. Examples of acquirers would include banks handling MasterCard or Visa credit card transactions. An acquirer typically charges merchants various fees for their services, which could include monthly and/or per transaction fees.
